Michael Houser

Michael Houser (1963-2002) was an American guitarist and songwriter best known as a founding member of the jam band Widespread Panic. Hailing from Athens, Georgia, he played a pivotal role in shaping the band's sound, which blends rock, blues, and Southern rock with improvisational elements typical of the jam band scene. Houser's guitar work was characterized by his unique fingerpicking style and his ability to create atmospheric and melodic solos. Some of Widespread Panic's notable albums featuring his contributions include *Space Wrangler* (1994), *Everyday* (1999), and *Live in the Classic City* (2000).
